Yanis Varoufakis es un ensayista, activista, conferenciante y político greco-australiano considerado el economista más vendido del mundo. Académico reputado, se formó en las universidades de Essex y Birmingham, ha ejercido como profesor de Economía en la Universidad de Texas en Austin y en la actualidad imparte clases en la Universidad de Atenas.

Saltó a la fama en 2015 cuando, como ministro de Finanzas de Grecia, se enfrentó a los países de la eurozona por la crisis de la deuda griega. Esta lucha contra la troika la narró en su autobiografía Comportarse como adultos, publicada por Deusto en 2017 y nombrada por The Guardian como «uno de los 100 mejores libros del siglo xxi». Ha publicado otros bestsellers como ¿Y los pobres sufren lo que deben? (Deusto, 2016), Otra realidad (Deusto, 2021), y es también autor de El Minotauro global (Capitán Swing, 2012) y Economía sin corbata (Destino, 2015).

Cofundador del movimiento internacional DiEM25 y de la Internacional Progresista junto con Bernie Sanders, es colaborador habitual de medios internacionales como The Guardian. La revista Business Insider le considera «el hombre más interesante del mundo».
