Was Jesus an Elf? challenges all people, no matter what their faith, gender or orientation, to imagine, wonder and marvel about the true nature of God. Is Jesus manacled by those few details that have filtered through the fog of distant memory? Or is he so much more? In this book, we unshackle him from our own narrow bigotry and reflect on the true vastness of his power. We imagine one tale among the myriad tales that might be true. We free ourselves from drill-sergeant clerics, who unwittingly and artfully insist that God was a jealous, narrow-minded, violent, vengeful male chauvinist. Why have we allowed the church to put God in a straight jacket? How much more expansive and encompassing is the real deity? Did Jesus save a race in Orion's belt or travel to Andromeda? Did he preach equality among the sexes and embrace spiritual doubt, just as most Christians embrace blind certainty? Did he speak of a Heavenly father AND mother? This story relates one possibility. Those who believe it is blasphemy to question a single word, thought or parable in the Bible may find it disturbing. All others may draw inspiration from this story and imagine their own, wondrous tales about God. For all of the little children out there like me, who look at Jesus in curious wonder and innocence, I wish you light, love, truth, doubt, and eternal happiness.
