$ 64.842The Confession Playbook is a new way to tell an old story, a true story that took place 100 years ago in Mexico. As the name implies, this is both a Play and a Book.
The two-act Play is an accurate and intriguing dramatization of the assassination of President-elect Álvaro Obregón in 1928 during the third year of the Cristero War. Even if you have never read a play or movie script, the clear descriptions of each scene and character, along with well-placed stage directions and compelling dialogue, make reading the Play an enjoyable and informative two-hour experience.
The Book illustrates Mexico's bloody and complicated history. The 1824 Constitution provided that the religion of Mexico would be Roman Catholic. Concerns among Liberals that the Catholic Church held too much power and controlled too much land and wealth led to the 1857 Constitution, the Reform War, and ultimately, the French intervention with the installation of Emperor Maximilian.
All of this is explained, plus the presidency of Benito Juárez, the dictatorship of Porfirio Díaz, the Mexican Revolution, the 1917 Constitution, and the Cristero War. The Book also contains biographies of each character in the Play and other relevant historical figures of the time, plus more than 175 restored period photographs.
Nowhere else will you find a more concise and interesting explanation of this portion of Mexican history.
