Reseña del libro "The Affairs of Gloria (en Inglés)"
Gloria is back!First issued in 1964 by Brandon House, The Affairs of Gloria is the first of over 200 books written by Victor J. Banis. Instead of receiving a Pulitzer Prize for his work, Victor received a federal indictment for conspiracy to distribute obscene materials. He and several others endured a lengthy trial in Sioux City, Iowa (United States v. Luros, 243 F. Supp. 160, N.D. Iowa1965).Though Victor was acquitted on a technicality, he was pissed off! He went on to write The Why Not, the first book to depict gay men in a positive light. This book changed how gay men were portrayed in literature and sparked a revolution, making Victor the "Godfather of Gay Pulp Fiction."For the first time since its original release, Gloria is back! Though quite tame by today's standards (and by other works of Victor's), Gloria is described as a "free-loving, free-wheeling nympho." She is an independent, strong, virtuous woman. We are excited to introduce Gloria to a new audience. We hope you enjoy!A special thank you to Stanley Fleishman, the lawyer for Brandon House and later Greenleaf Classics. He was a true crusader for the First Amendment! And, ofcourse, a special thank you to Gloria! Without you, none of that would have been possible!Read more in Victor's memoir Spine Intact, Some Creases (2004). Read more
