"'Does God want me to be a missionary?' he asked himself ... Wasn't he too old? And what about Mabel and the children." Harold and Mabel Street became SIM pioneer missionaries to Ethiopia in 1933. They found harsh living conditions, sickness, and tribal wars - but God was opening doors to establish an indigenous Ethiopian church. In 1937, the Street family was forced to evacuate. The Italians wanted the missionaries out, and the nationals - imprisoning Hal - believed he was a spy for the Italians. Mabel Street's Five-Year Diary of daily life in Ethiopia records the family's daily experiences. Her daily entries, which are the basis for this book, express her trust in God and her love for her husband, her "kiddies," and the lost. Harold Street Jr. offers their story as an encouragement to those answering God's call to a life of missions.
