Marcel Proust (Auteuil, París, 1871 – París, 1922) fue un novelista, crítico y ensayista francés considerado uno de los escritores más influyentes del siglo XX. Es célebre por su monumental obra En busca del tiempo perdido (À la recherche du temps perdu), una serie de siete volúmenes publicados entre 1913 y 1927, que exploran la memoria, el arte y la sociedad francesa de su época. Proust ganó el prestigioso Premio Goncourt en 1919 por el segundo volumen de la saga, A la sombra de las muchachas en flor.
