Paul, a Jewish persecutor of the followers of Jesus in the years after the crucifixion, experienced a sudden conversion which he attributed to flashing light and a loud voice coming from the sky. After meditating on these events in the Arabian desert for three years, he returned to Jerusalem and then embarked on missions to convert the Gentiles (non-Jewish people) to the nascent religion of Christianity. He traveled throughout Asia Minor and the Mediterranean basin, establishing new churches in many regions. From time to time he wrote letters to specific church communities, providing encouragement relating to both practical and spiritual issues.

This poetic version of three of Paul's letters (to Galatians, Corinthians, and Romans) is intended to clarify and explicate some of the more convoluted arguments and analyses that are characteristic of Paul's style of writing. With minor adaptations, many of the better known passages in these letters should also be found more suitable than prose for setting to music.
