When young Radeaux is sent away by his own father, it seemed like destiny demanded that he would meet and fall in love with Laele, herself an orphan. But after she is cruelly taken from him to be married to another man, and his family is killed in an uprising against powerful Count Raymond, Radeaux vows to begin playing by his own rules. He believes his only path to redemption is to endure the hardships of warfare and the treachery of his own warlords on a march that spans empires and continents. Laele too is determined to forge her own way in the world. She embarks upon a dangerous journey of her own, defying the odds and the rigid, hierarchical society she is born into, as well as the noblemen and clergy who would control her life. It appears as though there is no hope for either Radeaux or Laele, until they discover the other is waiting at the end of it. These are just two of an incredible cast of characters who struggle against the vagaries of fortune and the tides of history in this epic, geographically sweeping adventure through exotic foreign lands.
