My grandmother(Mamou) was not given to tales of fantasy, and her integrity was above reproach. Having met the family in Beaumont, Texas, in the 1950's, I can only say that their fear of being discovered by the KGB was undeniable. There is no doubt in my mind that this story is based on the truth and it is one that needs to be told. While Part I of the trilogy told you of how Anastasia escaped, with her Page Vadim Alevsky; Part II takes you through the trials of coming to America as Russian immigrants. The difficulties of desperate refugees escaping annihilation, how they survived and settled to raise a family, and the warmth and acceptance they found in this new country, offer a true tale of hope for all who seek a better life.
