Beautiful Monica McVey had been a widow for over seven years. She and Tessa, her grown daughter, had a strained relationship most of that time and Tessa now lived with her grandmother. Now, to make matters worse, Monica's supervisor at Third Commerce Bank strongly suggested that she enroll in financial courses at the university, if she expected to receive another promotion or raise in salary. Monica had a flat tire and had to walk in the pouring rain to her first class. She arrived late, wet, and bedraggled. She stumbled into the classroom apologizing profusely to the handsome young professor and to the class. Although Professor Livingston realized she was older than most of his students, he was non-the-less attracted to her and envisioned a relationship with his reluctant older student. The two eventually became 'platonic' friends which lasted many months, ... until the 'incident'. When Monica and Edward's father, Professor Gerard Livingston finally met ... it was love at first sight for both of them. Their love, however, could never culminate in marriage, a point that he adamantly stressed.
