Immanuel Kant (1724-1804) fue un filósofo alemán y una de las figuras más influyentes de la filosofía moderna. Su pensamiento sentó las bases del idealismo trascendental, centrado en la relación entre la experiencia y la razón. Entre sus obras más importantes se encuentra Crítica de la razón pura (1781), donde analiza los límites del conocimiento humano. También escribió Crítica de la razón práctica (1788), enfocada en la moralidad, y Crítica del juicio (1790), que aborda la estética y la teleología.

Además, en Fundamentación de la metafísica de las costumbres (1785), expuso su famosa teoría del imperativo categórico, piedra angular de su ética. Sus ideas sobre la ilustración, la moral y la epistemología siguen influyendo en la filosofía y las ciencias sociales.
