Reseña del libro "Held Hostage (en Inglés)"

In Held Hostage, Rebecca Mae Hill painfully recounts her childhood in Jug Hollow, Alabama. She endures not just abuse, neglect, and homelessness, but also faces the aching loneliness of being invisible to those who should protect her. She witnesses her abuser committing an act that leaves a deep sorrow within her soul. In this Cinderella-like story, she is the main caregiver for her brother Jack and is depended upon by her parents to handle most of the household responsibilities. Her life unravels when she is abducted at the age of ten, leading to an unimaginable aftermath of pain and sorrow. Her parents refuse to care for her, forcing her to deal with the trauma alone. This lack of support from her parents leaves her feeling isolated and abandoned. As she navigates through her emotional struggles, she grapples with feelings of worthlessness and confusion. The absence of parental guidance means she has no one to turn to for comfort or understanding, intensifying her sense of loneliness. Without a safe space to express her feelings, she is left to process her trauma in silence. She writes in her diary for therapeutic reasons and ultimately achieves success by turning it into a novel. She leaves home at just sixteen to navigate life on her own and eventually finds hope. At the height of her success, she is haunted by a sinister secret. To move forward, Mae must confront her childhood demons. Will she find the strength to reveal the truth she's buried for so long?
