The title is one of the fundamental mottos of the Order of St John of Jerusalem. When Queen Victoria created the Most Venerable Order of St John in Britain in 1877, it led to the St John Ambulance Brigade, a voluntary body of men and women, and later children, who serve the community to believe that it's absolutely unacceptable that so many people die needlessly - because no one could give them first aid when they needed it. St John Ambulance teaches people first aid. The Brighton Division was registered in 1915 during World War 1 and this is their story over the Centenary.
