But this day, he comes upon Catherine Hamilton, a northerner, trying unsuccessfully to bury her husband who had been murdered that morning. Together they travel across Central Florida with Cole helping Catherine seek revenge. Along the way they encounter multiple adventures including being hunted down by murderous land grabbers, illness and disease, Catholic nuns, and mean Methodists.
