This is an adventure story about a mortal teenager named Emily Castle and her immortal vampire-with-a-soul father Daniel Sangelos, who set out on a journey to find Emily's mother, named Ellie. Ellie was thought to have died years ago; however, that is not true. Ellie is alive, and now Daniel and Emily must race to find her. Along with Daniel's abilities, they have a creative techno genius named Cy, a stranger named Evans, and the written pages of a journal that was left on Daniel's doorstep to help them with their journey. The journal, to their surprise, belonged to Ellie. Somehow Emily and Daniel will need to decipher Ellie's words, thoughts, and memories in order to save her life. The journal begins the adventure, and as the journey unfolds, we begin to learn about all the unique people from Emily's and Ellie's past. But the journey for Daniel, Emily, and Cy becomes dangerous when they soon discover the real reason the journal was left on Daniel's doorstep in the first place. They soon realize the enemy behind everything is someone from Daniel's past named Gideon. Gideon is also a vampire. Daniel, Emily, and Cy must defeat Gideon, find Ellie, and somehow stay alive.
