Elly moved to Rochester from Texas to get away from her small town. Without having a plan when she moved beyond wanting to find places where she could sing and play her guitar, she did not understand what she would do when she arrived in the city in upstate New York. After living in the city for a few years, and bringing in money with the different jobs she enjoyed doing, she was at a point in her life when she wanted to find a partner to spend the rest of her life with. Having no set plans beyond doing the jobs she's come to love doing, Elly was ready for someone to step come into her life, giving her the partner she wanted.Kitty knew she fled New York City and the barbecue restaurant she owned in the city because she needed a break from spending all of her days and nights in keeping the restaurant as well-known as it has become. Taking the vacation she needed, she escaped from the city in the southern part of New York State, and rented an apartment in Rochester, another city in New York but one which is upstate. Kitty did not understand her life would change one night when asked Mira, a friend she knew back from when Mira lived in New York City before she moved to Rochester because the city was the hometown of Bess - her wife. The night the two friends spent dancing and drinking at Boots would change everything about the vacation and plans Kitty thought she wanted from the first moment she met Elly.
