The publication of a book on illegal drugs and substances abuse is always a welcome development, knowing that public awareness is one of the pillars of a successful anti-dangerous drugs campaign. The battle against dangerous drugs needs the cooperation of various dsectors of society, so that the main global thrusts against these substances consisting in demand reduction and supply reduction strategies may be fully coordinated. We nned to make our country and the Asean countries around us meet our self-imposed deadline of 2015. My main advocacy during my decades of public service starting as Vice-Mayor in Quezon City to the present, as Senator of the Public, has been the eradication of drug addiction in the country. Thus, the book of Mr. Armando A. Ang - "Drugs and Substance Abuse" - adds to our arsenal in the information component of this worthy fight. I congratulate Mr. Ang again for taking the time, effort, and study to come up with this book. It will surely go a long way in the growing need to better understand the drug-abuse problem in the Philippines and the world.
