Es psicóloga clínica y autora de literatura infantil francesa. Élisabeth Brami nació en Polonia justo después de la Segunda Guerra Mundial, en una familia que había sobrevivido al Holocausto y llegó a Francia a los 18 meses de edad. Es la única hija del arquitecto y pintor Emanuel Proweller. Realizó estudios superiores en letras y ciencias humanas, luego se graduó con un DESS en psicopatologías. Luego se convirtió en psicóloga en 1974, en un hospital de día para adolescentes, hasta 2006. Comenzó a escribir para jóvenes en 1990, y fue miembro de la carta de autores e ilustradores infantiles, y de la Casa de Escritores y Literatura, de la que fue vicepresidenta.
