The first story in the Death of a Pope deals with the assassination of the Pope and subsequent events pursuant to the election of the next Pontiff. The character Father Frederick Monahan appears in seven of the stories in this collection. The prologue on Page 1 tells of his death on the Titanic and subsequent decision to remain on this plane to assist those in need. The remaining stories deal with the archaic and barbaric Canon Law of celibacy, inappropriately foisted upon those priests and nuns who have dedicated their lives to the service of the Absolute, and the unspeakable pain and devastation it has caused. The true meaning of Celibacy is discussed by the character, Geno Benedetti, in the story My Love Affair with Father Tomas McTavish in which he disputes the Catholic Church's position that Celibacy is a gift of the church and succinctly outlines true celibacy as a gift of the Absolute when the individual has evolved spiritually to the selfless point where they are truly in the world but no longer of it. The Twelve Degrees of Silence: Each degree provides thought-provoking and gentle directions in attaining a simpler and more fulfilling life experience akin to the experience of monastic living without the need to join a monastery. J.T. Evergreen has devoted half a century to the study of metaphysics and mysticism. His efforts to give back all he has garnered are reflected in the tales in this volume. The Silence of Healing is a collection from many sources advocating the truth there is nothing to be healed, along with avenues in achieving this understanding.
