An epic love story adventure set against the background of World War II in the years leading upto the outbreak of war and the Battle of Britain. Two competitive young friends at Princeton University in 1935, the half-Jewish son of a Polish immigrant and a young Baron scion of an industrialdynasty in the German Rhineland who fly in the Thomson Trophy air races, are both in love with the same girl. Pressured by her parents, she marries the German who becomes an ace with the Luftwaffe while the American volunteers for the RAF and they end up as fighter aces on opposite sides, destined to meet again in the skies over war-torn Europe.
