Clark Ashton Smith (1893-1961) fue un escritor, poeta y artista estadounidense, destacado por sus contribuciones a la literatura de fantasía, terror y ciencia ficción. Nacido en Long Valley, California, fue autodidacta y amigo cercano de H.P. Lovecraft, con quien compartió correspondencia y colaboraciones en los Mitos de Cthulhu.

Entre sus obras más notables se encuentran Zothique. El último continente y Hiperbórea y otros mundos perdidos, ambas colecciones de relatos que exploran mundos imaginarios y fueron publicadas en español. Además de su labor literaria, Smith se dedicó a la escultura y la pintura, dejando un legado artístico multifacético.
