Visceral manipulation is the osteopathic treatment of the internal organs. It has become an essential component of integral, holistically orientated osteopathy. This medical system is based on the work of Dr. Andrew Still (1828 – 1917), whose basic concept united structure and function. Disorders in the body’s mechanics are treated with very subtle manual techniques. At the same time, the relationship between vascular, neural, neuroendocrine regulatory mechanisms and their actions on the body and organ function is constantly being considered.
This clinically orientated book is the first book to present the four most common treatment concepts found in visceral manipulation at a glance: the Barral concept, the concept from Finet and Williame, visceral manipulation according to Kuchera and Kuchera, and the Chapman reflex points. It does this in a well-structured manner and is organized according to the individual organs. The significance of the central tendon in osteopathic treatment is presented. The interaction between the organs and the teeth is also considered. Numerous photographs illustrate the techniques and demonstrate how to conduct them correctly.
This textbook is aimed towards all people who work with osteopathic treatment methods. The wellstructured presentation of visceral techniques and the extensive theoretical section give the beginner a sense of self-assurance.
