Their limitless stories of suffering and joy, of despair and fulfillment, are the stories of the fate of mankind. To be sure, no writer, no matter how great, could hope to match the depth and breath of the stories that these people have told, are telling now, and will continue to tell for generations to come. Their stories are a major part of the history of America.I was eleven years old when I first heard my parents say that we were going to America. Going to America - what could be greater than that? America, the land of cowboys and Indians; rock 'n' roll; chewing gum, Coca-Cola; and unlimited opportunities. Now, sixty years later, I take a look back at that adventurous journey across the sea to a new world, and at that unique journey that has been my life up to now. Yes, there has been pain and sorrow, but most of all, I realize that I have been blessed beyond all measure - blessed with a loving family, good friends and an appreciation for all that is beautiful.Who can ask for more than that?
