The Lyston Brothers chronicles the 19th century baseball careers of three family members from Baltimore, Maryland. Starting out with limited information, author Jimmy Keenan uses every available resource to unearth information on this trio of ball playing siblings. Documenting the Lystons’ days on the diamond, the book features biographical sketches of the famous and not so famous individuals they encountered along the way. Stories from this by-gone era of our national pastime along with narratives of contemporary events are interspersed throughout the text. The book is first and foremost a compilation of biographical information on three old-time ballplayers whose careers would have otherwise been lost to the passing of time. The Lystons’ accomplishments on the diamond are highlighted as they play their way through the long forgotten amateur and minor leagues of the late 19th century. Games that include future and former major-league players, along with the occasional matchup with big league ballclubs, are featured throughout this family baseball memoir.
