Alvina eventually decides to leave Everard and returns to Woodhouse, where she becomes involved with the local doctor, Mitchell. Their relationship is also tumultuous, and Alvina ultimately decides to leave him as well. In the end, Alvina realizes that she must find her own way in life and sets out once again on her journey of self-discovery. Overall, "The Lost Girl" explores themes of individualism, societal expectations, and the search for personal fulfillment in a rapidly changing world.
