Harry Sidebottom es un escritor, historiador y académico británico especializado en la historia de la Antigua Roma. Nació en Cambridge y creció en Newmarket, Inglaterra. Estudió Historia Antigua en la Universidad de Lancaster, obtuvo un máster en la Universidad de Manchester y posteriormente un doctorado en la Universidad de Oxford. A lo largo de su carrera ha impartido clases en Oxford, donde ha sido profesor e investigador de Historia Antigua.

Es reconocido internacionalmente por combinar el rigor académico con la narrativa de ficción histórica. Su obra más famosa es la serie de novelas Warrior of Rome (Guerrero de Roma), ambientada durante la crisis del siglo III del Imperio romano y protagonizada por el oficial romano Ballista. La serie ha vendido cientos de miles de ejemplares y ha sido traducida a numerosos idiomas.

Además de sus novelas, Sidebottom ha publicado importantes trabajos de divulgación histórica, entre ellos Ancient Warfare: A Very Short Introduction, The Mad Emperor: Heliogabalus and the Decadence of Rome y Those Who Are About To Die: Gladiators and the Roman Mind.
