Educational convergence with the other states of the European Union confronts the Spanish university system with new challenges. since the implementation at national level of the European agreements will have a profound effect on curriculum. teaching practices and student workload. Three factors will shape this new educational context: the application of the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) in the member states. the establishing of two-level (graduate and postgraduate degree courses, and the introduction of a system of accreditation to ensure quality and transparency by means of the European Diploma Supplement (Suplemento Europeo al Título: SET). Furthermore. it seems clear that the new educational context will require conceptual changes on the part of both teachers and students.
