Dr. Newell Bringhurst has been writing on Mormon History topics for more than 50 years. In July 2017, he sat down with Rick Bennett of Gospel Topics to discuss a variety of Mormon History topics. We'll start off with a focus on Black History and discuss his insights on writing his book Saints, Slaves, and Blacks, the first book to tackle the LDS priesthood and temple ban following the 1978 revelation giving black members access to temple ordinances, and black men access to the priesthood. The book is currently out of a second edition from Greg Kofford Books.We talk about his other projects, such as his biography of Fawn Brodie, as well as his many works discussing Mormon polygamy. Newell will discuss other history topics he is working on, and we'll learn about his latest book critiquing the Gospel Topics essays. Check out our conversation.....
