Twenty-nine (29) years after the death of her grandfather (John C. Hunt, Sr.), a granddaughter (Rosita Baines Lee) shares her grandfather's book. Her grandfather was born in 1900 and is a direct descendant of Kittie Sneed, a former slave and a key historical figure in the Brentwood, TN community. Kittie Sneed was John C. Hunt, Sr.'s maternal great-grandmother, and his book chronicles the changes he witnessed during his lifetime. This is also his account of how things were growing up in Brentwood, TN during the early 1900's. According to John C., it was a simpler time when things were harder, but that made you appreciate what you had even more. The book also includes old-time health remedies and an accompanying Southern Comfort style (Back-in-the-Day) cookbook with family recipes from Geneva's Kitchen. Geneva was John C. Hunt, Sr.'s wife and the grandmother of the author, Rosita Baines Lee.
