Ông đã thu thập một khối lượng dữ kiện quý giá liên quan tới con Sông Mekong dài hơn 4,800 km bắt nguồn từ Cao nguyên Tây Tạng chảy ra tới Biển Đông. Rất nhiều bài viết tâm huyết của ông đã cung cấp cho bạn đọc trong nước Việt Nam cũng như ở hải ngoại những thông tin hữu ích về chuỗi các con đập thuỷ điện khổng lồ Vân Nam cùng với những ảnh hưởng tác hại ra sao trên đời sống của bao nhiêu triệu cư dân ven sông. Ông không ngừng tạo sự quan tâm tới vấn đề này không chỉ ở Việt Nam mà cả với dư luận quốc tế. Đáp ứng sự khẩn trương ấy, ông cũng đã hoàn tất một cuốn ký sự có tên "Mekong - Dòng Sông Nghẽn Mạch" là những ghi nhận sống động về những trải nghiệm trong suốt cuộc hành trình dọc theo con Sông Mekong. Bác sĩ Vinh tuy không sống ở Việt Nam nhưng trái tim và trí tuệ ông vẫn luôn luôn gắn bó với sinh mệnh của dòng sông Mekong - Cửu Long. ...Dr. Ngô Thế Vinh is deeply interested in measures that protect the ecosystem of the Mekong and the Mekong Delta. He has collected a wealth of precious data concerning the more than 4,800m kilometer long Mekong current flowing from Tibet to the East Sea. Many of his articles written with a heartfelt style have been published to provide readers in Vietnam as well as overseas with useful information concerning not only the early construction stages of the dams in the Mekong Cascades of Yunnan but also about the calamities that the 14 dams in this Cascades may wreak on that river's ecology affecting the tens of millions of people who inhabit its banks. Therefore, in his articles he never tires of drawing the attention of the Vietnamese as well as international public opinion to this issue. To add urgency to it, he recently authored a travelogue named "Mekong - The Occluding River" to record his experience during his travels along the Mekong's current. Dr. Vinh does not live in Vietnam.
