In this work that was partially written while a prisoner of the German's after have his destroyer sunk during the Battle of Jutland in 1916, Sir Barry Bingham recounts his service in the Royal Navy during the Battle of the Heligoland Bight, the destruction of Graf von Spee's Pacific Squadron during the Battle of the Falklands, and his service commanding destroyers before and during Jutland, for which he was awarded the Victoria Cross.
