Nearly all the families in this volume settled in Dorchester County.This volume includes the personal research of Donald M. Fehlings, Patricia Frensilli, Robert Gootee, Jayne Huntington, Bob Matkins, Jack Meredith, Ron Meredith, Louise Messick Porter, Vernon L. Skinner, and LeRoy Whiteley. It covers more families of Dorchester County, drawing chiefly from probate, deeds, land commissions, and church records. Family surnames include: Alford (revision of earlier works on these families in Caroline County and Dorchester County, Maryland; and Kent County, Delaware), Avery, Bestpitch, Bestwick, Blackwell, Bright, Button, Chance, Covey, Cremeen, Deane, Dorrington, Donnock, Edgar, Fitchew, Foxwell, Gadd, Gootee, Grimes, Hart, Heather, Kennerly, Killman, Kirwan, Madkins, Melville, Meredith, Newton, Orrell, Pearson, Poole, Rich, Tall, Wall, Whiteley, Wingate, Wright, and Wroughton. An index to full-names and places adds to the value of this work.
