Reseña del libro

Author is a central member of San Francisco Bay Area writing community for 25 years as Deputy Director of Small Press Distribution, Archives Director for the American Poetry Archives at the Poetry Center at SFSU, and visiting teacher at Mills College. Some of the poems in Personal Volcano are shaped like strato volcanoes as well as other geological features such as columns and rifts, including shield volcanoes-like the one currently going off in Hawaii. Of interest to geologists and those obsessed with volcanoes, natural catastrophes, climate change, ecopoetics, older people and particularly older women who are traveling. Articulates historical examples of volcanic catastrophes that wiped out previous cities and civilizations, connecting the historical with contemporary and upcoming catastrophes caused by global warming. Belongs in conversations around ecology, ecopoetics, and climate change.
