The islands of Chiloé in southern Chile are rich in folklore and possess a vibrant local music culture, but recent developments, such as the introduction of salmon aquaculture, have disrupted traditional lifestyles. This study analyzes the impact of modernity in the region and describes a number of creative engagements.
