Reseña del libro

Our story follows a brave little girl, Rachel, who lives in the wheat filled planes of Kansas with her parents and Grandpa. Her Mother was born in Japan, and her Father was born in America. Rachel is taught to believe in herself and to treat others the way she would like to be treated, with kindness and compassion. She sees the world as all children do - with purity, compassion and open mindedness. Her perceptions and self-belief are uprooted when she experiences a racist taunt at school. Rachel is not aware of the impact of what happens, and as she begins to see and feel things differently, like an outsider, she tries to change the way she looks to be similar to the other kids at school. With the support of her friends and family, she is able to come to terms with the reality that she is different, but also that no one is ever the same - and this is something beautiful. Her Journey demonstrates the impact of racism on young children, and the ability to repair self-love while gaining a heightened understanding of the world, and a greater sense of self-pride and inner strength.
