The idea of ecological responsibility for the planet Earth provides a new basis for environmental law. Alongside a more general shift towards participative government, the book turns attention from what the states are meant to do, to what individuals should do to promote better environment and more sustainable development. The book presents new inputs to future guidelines for the European legislator.
