The present study offers a new, comprehensive methodology for dating all of Augustine's 583 "Sermons to the People". It is based on a complete critical discussion of all hitherto suggested dates and is thus expected to contribute to new perspectives on Augustine's person, thought and environment in all aspects of Augustinian research.
